Thrifty Thursday: My Beachy Find!

I'm not much of a thrift shopper, and never seem to find any of those fabulous finds you see other bloggers flaunt. Maybe I don't have the patience to browse all the racks or maybe I'm just going to the wrong stores, but either way, I don't have the best luck at thrift shops.

I did, however, find the most adorable beach tote for $7 at a shop in River Falls, WI. It's the perfect size for all my beach necessities this summer, and I plan on taking it on our "camping" (using that word very loosely) trip to South Dakota in a few weeks!

I love the lobster print, don't you?!

That's all for today, I need to finish catching up on "Nashville" and tuck my little man into bed.

Happy Thrifting!

What I Wore Wednesday: Brights & Prints

*I need to let ya'll know that my camera sucks, so for the time being, I won't be posing in any of my outfit pics (plus, I'm waiting to get my hair done, and it's an unruly beast now, so it's probably a good thing I'm not in the pics)! I will, however, still try and post outfit pics, they'll just look a little different, mmkay? ;)

It's dreary and rainy here, but that doesn't mean I can't pretend that it's summer and dress accordingly (especially if I'm not planning on leaving the house!), and this outfit is definitely perfect for summertime!

I love these printed shorts from H&M, and the best part? They only cost $12.95! The orange shell was also a steal at only $4.95, and I definitely plan on heading back to pick up another one in white because they go with everything! I snagged the necklace from JC Penny, and I love how it adds a funky tribal twist the the outfit! Wedges are from Target, and I wear them with literally everything-that's the beauty of a black and brown shoe!

1. Shorts: H&M
2. Shell: H&M
3. Shoes: Target
4. Necklace: JC Penney (similiar)

Let's see what you rocked today!

Pinterest Inspirations: Totally Bohemian

I started noticing a trend in my recent pinning...I'm obsessed with the styles of the 1970's, and love anything hippie or boho-chic.

(could not find a source for this image, if it is yours, please let me know so I can give due credit)
There's something so carefree about this picture, and I just love it so much (especially with the rainbow flag waving proudly in the background)! Check out some of my other current Pinterest obsessions, and be sure to follow me on my own Pinterest board!

Soundset Festival Wear!

Soundset is coming up this weekend in the Minneapolis area, so I figured it would be the perfect time to give you a little bit of outfit inspiration! I loooooooooooooooove festival wear, I think it's a time when people can truly express themselves through fashion (which I always think is super awesome). Since the 90's-inspired looks are back in full force, now is the perfect time to shop for some of these pieces, they are everywhere!

Looks, from L to R:
1. I'm a super feminine dresser, so this is one of my faves. I love the lacy top with the denim cutoffs and huaraches. It's effortless, chic, and super comfy, so it's right up my alley. I paired it with a floral headband and some tortoiseshell sunglasses.

2. This dress is so 1992, it's not even funny. I had LOADS of these dresses in my closet back in the day, and while it took me awhile to warm up to this trend, I will admit, I like it now (maybe it's just me being nostalgic for my younger days, but I'll take it for what it is)! I paired this floral sundress with some comfortable gray tennies and a big ol' floral headband.

3. This last look is probably the most daring, but that's the best part about festivals! You can take a big fashion risk and know that there are thousands of other people doing the same! I love a good crop top/bralette, and this one from Wet Seal is super affordable, so if you only wear it once, it's no bigs! Pair it with high-waisted shorts to balance out the look. I also paired this look with some heart shaped sunglasses and a versatile straw hat.

If you're lucky enough to be attending Soundset this weekend, I'm jealous! The tix were a bit too pricey for me, but I'll be rocking some festival gear this holiday weekend, so I will be with you all in spirit!

Happy festival-ing!

What to Pack: Beach Vacation

I'm sure many of you are headed out on some sort of summer vacation, and if you're anything like me, packing can give you a slight panic attack. I've discovered that it's best to keep things simple and lightweight, especially when you're headed to the beach. Pack a couple outfits that can be mixed and matched for the daytime-shorts and tank tops are easily packable. I love the patterned shorts with a bright top for a glam look and the crochet top and jean shorts for a more bohemian look-I know that personally, my moods change on vacation, and I like my outfits to represent that! A preppy anchor printed bikini looks fab under a hot pink cover-up, especially when paired with minty green flip flops. Don't be afraid of color when you're on vacation-the sunshine and sand call for bright and cheery shades and patterns. For a more polished, nighttime look, head out in a bleached sundress with pink embroidery or a east coast inspired lobster tee and white skirt paired with a coral necklace. Keep your accessories light, classic sunglasses and a Panama hat will be perfect for the beach, and you can stow everything in a raffia beach bag. Don't forget the sunscreen either!

Let's Play Catch-Up, Shall We?

Hello there, strangers! It has been a hot minute since I've blogged, but these past couple weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions and events, so I felt the need to take a few steps back, enjoy time with my family, and come back when I was ready. And here I am! In case any of you aren't aware, my husband is active duty Army, and just deployed to the 'Ghan. We took a family trip to Washington DC, spent lots of time cuddling, and after he left, I threw myself into my schoolwork and hanging with my little man. Things have finally quieted down a bit, and I'm feeling the fashion itch, so I thought I'd come back and post a quick little blurb in case anyone missed me.

I haven't been shopping much lately because I've been spending all our money on creating and filling awesome care packs for my hubs. He's a pretty lucky guy, I tell ya.

Anywho, since I haven't done much shopping lately, I've been keeping an eye out for pieces that I really love, and I've found a few that I wanted to share with you, and show you how I would style them.

#1. " Blushing" from Apricot Lane Peoria
I sent this image to my hubs and told him to keep it in mind for Mother's Day-I'm hoping he catches the hint and has enough time/internet power to order it. If not, I will more than happily do it myself!

I would pair this with some cream colored wedges, a colorful clutch (I think purple would look gorg), and gold earrings. This dress is SO "in your face", that it doesn't require a whole lot of styling, but it will require a lot of confidence! You can buy it here.

Knew I should have ordered this when it was in stock! I'm bummed because I really love this cutout maxi dress! Pair this with some hot pink or aqua stud earrings and flat sandals-you're set! Apricot Lane Peoria will sometimes restock popular items, so be sure you "like" them on Facebook so you can be notified!

AHHHH! LEOPARD PRINT SHOOOOORTS! I love these. I really like how they're leopard "inspired"-not the regular leopard print you usually see. These would be SO fab with a hot pink slouchy tank, gold sandals, and a fun statement necklace. Go all out with this look.

That's all I have energy for tonight, but I hope I've given you a bit of inspiration!
