Thrifty Thursday: A DVF Find

I have been SO EXCITED to share this with you, I can barely contain myself. Remember how I said that I never seem to find anything good at Goodwill?! Well, I think my luck has changed, because I stumbled upon a Diane von Furstenberg coral body con dress that is gorgeous. It just so happens to fit me like a glove too, and get this, it was only $7.99! I mean, that's unreal, right?! I snagged the heels as well for $4.99. Needless to say, I'll be going back weekly.

Now, someone just needs to take me out so I have somewhere fancy to wear this.

Bows in the Details

I am so bad about buying things and forgetting I have them. I considered doing a post about how many things in my closet still had the tags on them, but then I got embarrassed and decided not to. I'm hoping that styling from within my closet for this blog will help breathe new life into my clothes, and I can eventually take some tags of some of my pieces.

Since my hair is inyourface red again, I love wearing green. I think it looks gorgeous against my fair skin, and really pops with my hair. I love this little slip-on dress from Old Navy because it can be worn super dressed-down (think swimsuit cover-up) or dressed-up (think a belt and heels). Since I have things to do today, I dressed it up a bit, but don't think this isn't coming to the cabin with me next weekend.

Mixing Prints: Ferocious

I'm with Snooki: I dig animal prints. By the time I was about 13, my room was decked out in leopard (this was after my blow-up furniture phase of the late 90's), and I still cannot turn away from it. It speaks to me, so it makes me happy that I can still get away with wearing it.

Mixing prints can be daunting, but when you stick to a monochromatic color scheme, it doesn't have to be scary! Since both the tank and the shorts are black and white, they can easily be worn together. I  would love a neon pop of color somewhere, and that can be snuck in the bandeau or a fun bracelet. Try hot pink wedges too!

This tank makes me feel like I'm 26 trying to be 16, but I don't care. I love the tiger's face, and it makes me feel fierce. So if you see me in Target wearing this, with my bandeau peeking out, please don't laugh. Look at me and think, "I wanna be as cool as her when I'm that old". Thanks.

You Poor, Poor Blog...

I am FINALLY back from vacation and attempting to get myself and LB back into a routine. Currently enjoying a "Straw-Beer-Ita" on the deck and diving back into the ol' blog. I'm hoping to be much more consistent from here on out, so try and hold me to that!

It's so hot today, so this dress is absolutely perfect. I found it at H&M for only $10, and while it's a little unusual, something about it spoke to me. I added my own belt because I felt like I need a little more shape, and I must say, I absolutely love it!

Ridiculously Excited...

About my latest clearance purchase!

If you know me, you will know that I rarely ever buy anything at full price.

I refuse to use coupons when I'm grocery shopping (don't ask, it's just a weird thing of mine), but you bet your pretty little behind that I will use them at clothing stores! Seriously, I will text, email, download, and sign up for any special offer I can get-and it always pays off!

Anyways, getting off track...

I went to Kohl's this afternoon and scoured the clearance racks (which, btw, are awesomesauce because they're usually 70-80% off-none of that 30% off nonsense), and happened upon the perfect pair of LC by Lauren Conrad "leather" pants for, get this, $11.60! They were in my size, and I just had to purchase them.

That blazer was even there, but I needed a chambray more than I needed a new blazer, so I had to pass.

I'm headed out this weekend and cannot wait to rock these babies with my super awesome tiger tank and neon citron heels. Keep an eye out for that outfit post!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram to stay up-to-date on all my outfits of the day as well!

Thrifty Thursday: Guest Post by Ashley of Thrifty Little Pretties!

Hello lovely readers of Carlea Jane! I’m baaaaack! I know I promised the first Thursday of every month but…well…ok I have no good excuse. Life has been busy busy – that’s for sure! I hope you all caught my last guest post. If not I’ll hold on while you go back and check it out…………………………..

Ok – welcome back! This week we are going to discuss some Target secrets.

Secret #1 : Their Markdown Schedule

Monday – Electronics, Kid’s clothing and stationary (Cards, Gift Wrap, Etc.)

Tuesday – Domestics, Women’s clothing, Pets and Market (food items)

Wednesday – Men’s clothing, Toys (also Thursday), Health and Beauty and Lawn and Garden items

Thursday – Housewares, Lingerie, Shoes, Toys, Sporting Goods, Movies, Music, Books and Décor and Luggage

Friday – Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware and Jewelry

Always know their markdown schedule when making your daily trip to Target. Personally I don’t even bother looking at most of their full priced items. I know they’ll go on clearance and I’ll lust after them then. Why pay full price when 70% off is just around the corner!? If an item that I’ve been absolutely dying for is popular I might nab it up when it hits 50% off because chances of them still having my size left when it hits the 70% off rack are pretty slim. I almost never buy 30% off items because that’s hardly a discount in my book and I know the item will get cheaper soon.

Secret #2 : How low will it go?
Regular stock items typically only reach a 70% off discount. Online only items are like gold in the clearance section, often reaching prices as low as $2.46 for a clothing item! Yes – you did read that correctly. Under $3!! Holiday items are a different story, though, and these items typically reach 90% off. That’s practically free!! Although sometimes it is hard to wait, stocking up on holiday décor after the holiday is a smart decision & your bank account will thank you. It’s also smart to stock up on gifts for people throughout the year as things they may like go on sale. That also means less work for you come Christmas time!

Also, when shopping Target don’t rule out that dollar section near the entrance. I always find great trendy office items such as post its, white boards, pens, etc. They also have seasonal items in that section such as trendy and/or themed BBQ accessories. And of course you’ll also find fun kids toys and misc. items as well.

Next time you’re at your local Target don’t forget to scour those clearance racks!

Check back the first Thursday of July for my next post and stop by my blog, Thrifty Little Pretties, to stay current in the meantime!

The Week In View...

This week is about to get crazy busy, yo.
I am finally taming this beast of a mane and going in for a much needed hair appointment on Tuesday, and then Wednesday, I've got an OpLove photo shoot planned to take some patriotic pics for my hubs for Father's Day. Thursday, we will shop relax, and then Friday, it's a playdate at the zoo! I tell ya, I am getting quite good at this whole "keeping busy while the man is away" thing! ;)

Here's some things I'm coveting this week...

This reverse ombre look. I think my stylist would murder me if I brought her this picture, plus my hair definitely isn't long enough, but it's gorg, right?!

(I searched for the original source of this
photo, but could not find it. If you are the
owner of it, please let me know so I can
give you credit!)

Instead, I think we're going to try this one-I currently have a red ombre look, but it faded soooo quickly (told ya so, newbie stylist), so I'm hoping something like this will stick a little better.

(I searched for the original source of this
photo, but could not find it. If you are the
owner of it, please let me know so I can
give you credit!)

*Side note, it's bumming me out that I can't find the original sources of these pics, these gals should be credited for their fab locks, right?!?!

NEW GLASSES!!!!!!
My prescription is like 8 years old (I'm bad, I knooow) and I finally got in for an eye exam and am ordering some new glasses once I figure out my pupil distance. In the meantime, I have my eye on Anthropologie shades. I'm also taking a leap of faith with Coastal Glasses and ordering my first pair (they're FREE, just pay S&H) online, but I think they're pretty cute and hope they look good on me!
Derek Cardigan 7014 Smoke

Lastly, I have recently become obsessed with two websites (very popular, but I've spent an absurd amount of time on them in the past week): Shoedazzle and Windsor Store

I can't even handle it...

Oh, and the #1 thing I'm loving this week? My new YMCA membership, looks like the little dude and I have a new home away from home! I've gotta be bikini ready by March! ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful week!
