2013 Oscars Best & Worst Dressed!

I was very pleasantly surprised by the fashion choices last night, not too many "misses", although there was one starlet in particular whom I was very disappointed by, but she shall redeem herself, I'm sure of it. Without further ado, here are my top five best and worst dressed of the night!

BEST DRESSED

5. Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Haute Couture and Harry Winston jewels

 4. Halle Berry in Versace (the #1 worn designer on the Oscar's red carpet!)

3. Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton (she also wins for best hair)

2. Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive

And my BEST DRESSED of the night is...

1. Naomi Watts in Armani Prive

Honorable Mentions: Zoe Saldana in  Alexis Mabille Couture, Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta, and Jennifer Garner in Gucci,

WORST DRESSED

5. Melissa McCarthy in David Meister: It was the hair that ruined it for me. The dress could have been pretty if it fit better as well. She's beautiful, but shouldn't hide behind a sloppy dress and huge hair!

4. Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood: No big surprise here, she always looks a tad sloppy.

3. Brandi Glanville: Not an actress, but the dress was so horrendous that it deserved a spot on my list. It took "low-cut" to a whole new level-and not a good one.

2. Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott: I'm just bored with her, she always looks the same. And those swirls at the bottom of her dress were just weird looking.

And my WORST DRESSED of the night is (I bet you can guess)...

1. Anne Hathaway in Prada: I mean, c'mon. It was SO bad. It looked like one of those halter tops my mom made out of a trapezoid shaped piece of fabric. And were those her nipples or bad bolting in the gown? The color was wrong, the dress was bo-ring, and her hair was horrendous. I expected so much more from her and was seriously disappointed. I will give her credit though, her performance gown was beautiful, and her after-party dress wasn't half bad. Word was, she wasn't supposed to wear the Prada and changed her mind at the last minute...wonder if she regrets that now?

Guys, it's still cold here. Like, freezing cold. I am getting impatient here waiting for warmer weather, and I honestly don't know how much longer my bones can handle this cold.

Anywho, I threw together some looks inspired by Pinterest, some may have to wait until warmer temps decide to arrive, but others you can rock right now.

Enjoy!

Saturday Lusts!

We pretty much got pounded last night. I'd say a good 12-18 inches of pure, fluffly, white snow has fallen and entrapped everything in sight. So I think it's safe to say that we're snowed in and probably not going anywhere for awhile (or at least until my husband wakes up and shovels-ha!).

Whenever the weather sucks, as is does now, I constantly find myself daydreaming about what my life would be like if I switched places with my friends who live in Georgia, Hawaii, and South Carolina. I wouldn't have to buy thick wool socks to wear everyday, wouldn't have to worry about the windchill, and I definitely wouldn't be dealing with a foot and a half of snow. Freezing cold snow.

Can you tell I hate the snow yet?

So anyways, when it snows, I dream about warm weather, sunshine, and sandals. And then I shop. Or, I browse Pinterest and get excited about what's already in my closet just waiting patiently to be worn (the latter is rare, but it still happens).

Here's what's on my "must have" list for warmer weather!

1. A neon lace skirt (I'd prefer shorts, but a skirt would work too).

neon lace skirt.

I think this would look super adorable with a slouch gray tank and some gladiators, but I like how she dressed it up too. The greatest thing about this style is that it's totally versatile, and if you can find a version in shorts, they're even more so!

2. A geometric print shirt (paired with my hot pink maxi I already own).

I love this- print top with bright maxi skirt

Black, white, and hot pink will never go out of style, and I love how put together this looks. I snagged my hot pink maxi from Old Navy last summer for a cool $7. I was shocked, because I never find good deals (especially on things I've had my eye on for a long while), and if I do, they're never in my size. You should have seen the smile on my face when I grabbed it. I felt like I needed to hide it so no one would try to steal it from me. I'm that ridiculous, I swear.

3. Color-blocked sheer blouse.

I love taupe and yellow together, and this top would look great with so many other pieces; floral skirts, rolled  boyfriend jeans + heels, patterned slacks (yes, I said "slacks"), the list goes on. Color-blocking is still HOT, HOT, HOT, and I have a feeling this trend will be around for awhile, so snatch this up, and have fun pairing it with all the colorful pieces already in your closet!

4. A bikini that ISN'T a triangle top!

 Posh Pucci Bikini Top

I'm a card carrying member of the IBTC (and if you don't know what that means, I'll let you look it up on your own), so swimsuit shopping usually makes me cry. Nothing ever fits, and stores rarely carry XS tops, so I'm usually left with the option of either buying something a little too big (and risking some serious exposure) or wearing a t-shirt to the beach. I'm slightly obsessed with this style of suit, and love how it gives a little extra coverage! The print is to die for as well, so I'm definitely digging this (and might have to order it right meow)!

5. Maxi Dresses

Forever 21- $32.80 | Love Culture- $12.90 | Forever 21- $29.80

I live in maxi dresses during the hottest summer months. I seriously cannot get enough of them, and I love how breezy and effortless they are. My current fave is the high-necked halter from Forever 21. I really love the color and pattern of it, but also the sheerness-which means it's lightweight and won't feel heavy when it's 85 degrees outside. The middle racerback dress will be super duper versatile and can be paired with anything from a jean vest to a fitted blazer!

6. Ornate necklaces

Forever 21- $20.80 | Urbanog- $11.40 | Lulu's- $21

These are amazeballs. They'd look absolutely fantastic paired with a white tank and a maxi skirt (or mini, whatever your style). The colors are perfect for spring and summer, and they really give off that vintage-y vibe (like you spent hours in an antique store searching for them)!

Welp, that's all I have for now. I need to go get ready to get our taxes done (what a FUN day!), but I think a nap may be in order first.

Enjoy the snow if you were unlucky enough to get dumped on by Nemo!

Valentine's Day-You're Killin' Me!

I had high hopes for this Valentine's Day, I really did. The hubs and I have dinner plans (The Melting Pot-yum!) in the "big city", and since we rarely get an opportunity to take in a romantic dinner on our own, I got super excited to buy a new outfit.

And then I remembered where I live-a place where the only decent places to buy clothing are Charlotte Russe (which has become way more of a "miss" than a "hit"), Old Navy, TJ Maxx, and Target.

Trust me, I tried. I looked everywhere-I tried Sears, hoping the Kardashian sisters would be able to help me out, but they failed (unless I was looking for neon colored loungewear). I also checked out Vanity, Maurices, and Deb as a last ditch attempt because hey, ya never know, but nope. Epic fail. This town really needs to work on its shopping situation, cuz let me tell ya, it ain't pretty.

So here I sit. Outfit-less and depressed because everything I could wear is not going to be weather appropriate (I'm looking at you, Nemo), and jeans just will not cut it for The Melting Pot. I'm being 100% honest when I say, "I have nothing to wear".

I mean, seriously, is it too much to ask that I have these outfits at my disposal (and look like this in them)?! Oh, and if the weather could warm up a good 55 degrees or so, I'd appreciate that as well. Thanks.

I mean, seriously, can you wear a maxi skirt when it's 13 degrees outside?

I'll probably have to suck it up and wear a skirt and tights, but I just want to be warm!

Sooo...what are you wearing? Throw some ideas and inspiration my way. Better yet, share your Pinterest fashion boards with me so I can follow more ladies!

Whatever you're doing this Valentine's Day (and whatever you're wearing), I truly hope it's filled with love.

pretty adorable.
